A prolific composer, songwriter & singer, Joyce has performed at various Chicago establishments such as Mariano's, Leona’s Piano Bar, The Joynt, The Roots Room, and many other venues and events.
Kenneth Walker, Drums
A Chicago native, Ken has been drumming since the age of 17. He has performed with many artists, most notably the Soul group, Ripple, whose ‘70s hit, “I Don’t Know What It Is/Sho’ Is Funky” was covered by the Rap duo, Kid & Play. When touring, Ripple opened for legendary performers like the Miracles, the Dramatics, Millie Jackson, and the Stylistics. Ken is the husband of Joyce Renee.
Stann Champion, Guitar
Worldwide musician in the reggae/rock industry and owner of The Roots Room, Chicago.
Joyce Renee & the JK Connection is: Joyce Renee Walker (keyboards, bass, lead vocals), Kenneth Walker (drums, vocals), Stann Champion (guitar, vocals), Shirley Williams, aka "Phoenixx" (vocals), and EdVette Wilson Thomas (vocals). Our set list covers a variety of musical styles & genres, including: Soul/R&B, Blues, Jazz Standards/Smooth Jazz, Zydeco, Disco, World Music, and more. One of the unique aspects of our music is Joyce Renee's, bass playing - we don't employ a traditional bass guitarist - she plays the bass on her keyboards!

Did you know that Joyce Walker is also the host of the longest running talk show on Chicago's own CAN-TV? Last year, she was a Red Carpet Host at the Chicago Music Awards presentation ceremony. Perhaps many of this year's nominees will remember her smiling face and pleasant personality.
